Home is bliss

Hi dear reader,

I hope you haven't given up on me. Been home for two weeks  and loving it.

The last few days in Italy were not too much fun, but I did manage to go to the Acadamia in Florence and see David again. He seems to have shrunk in the twenty five years since I saw him last. Might be my perception of things. I got in trouble for taking a photo of some harpsichords in the adjacent musical instrument museum. I told security I did it for Bill, but he didn't understand.

On my last day I wandered into a museum in Rome that I'd walked past often, just near the terminus station. Ancient stuff, carvings and bronzes, mostly BC. Brilliant. I could have just come to Rome, seen that exhibition and gone home, I thought. But I was feeling ill. I got in trouble again for getting too close to the bronze boxer and his cauliflower ear, setting off an alarm.

 An ancient past time-

Got to Rome airport about five hours too early and changed my ticket to bypass Thailand and upgraded to Business class, cause I wanted to be comfortable for long flight.

Now I am ruined. There's no going back to Cattle Class. I was in my own little capsule, the seat reclined fully. Watched movies and slept and ate. It was almost perfect, all it was missing was a urinal arrangement so I wouldn't have to get up and go pee every hour. Some time during that trip I jotted down on a scrap of paper what is important in my life and what I want to focus on. Where is it?

Keep up the writing
organise new studio
sharing skills
the garden
art
build a wood fired oven
Family
friendships
love
good health
a full life

I had a bad dream the other night. I was on a plane going somewhere. I woke up and to my great relief found that I was at home in my warm bed.

So that's it for this blog. It's been fun writing about my struggle with traveling. Of course it was all worth it. A few months to recover and I'm off to Japan!

Stay tuned for the next blog. I'll start a new page because this one has issues with posting comments. will post the address here when I get it together.

Ciao,

Cliff
